Here at HLC, we have always celebrated the classic northern drink, Vimto. You’ll find at least one of our bakers with a glass of the tasty purple liquid; hot or cold, depending on the time of year.
In 2015 we even went as far as creating our very own Vimto cupcake; a vanilla sponge topped with purple Vimto flavoured buttercream and our favourite Vimto sweets!
So, when we were invited to provide the sweet treats for Vimto’s 110th anniversary in November, our bakers leapt at the chance! But this was no small feat; with an intricately decorated, Great Gatsby themed 10″ layer cake, 50 cakepops and hundreds of branded cupcakes; we had our work cut out.
Our talented head baker, Vicky, took on the momentous task of covering the enormous layer cake. First, in Vimto’s instantly recognisable purple colour, before carefully measuring, cutting, spraying gold and assembling the delicate outer decorations.
The event was held in Manchester’s beautiful Cathedral, the perfect location to celebrate such a historical, local company.
As well as the main cake, we baked hundreds of branded cupcakes, which were displayed proudly across the celebration table on cupcake stands.
Not only did they look fabulous, but they were also within easy reach for the hungry guests to pluck them from their towers and tuck in.
Our glitzy cakepops were the perfect finishing touch to the display.
We had so much fun creating this magical display for our friends at Vimto, here’s to many more anniversaries to come!
